The new national register of landlords and rented homes in England opens 15th December 2026, rolling out region by region through 2027. Once your region opens, you'll have a 3 month window to register.

Yorkshire and the Humber: opens 15th 

April 2027 which means you must register by 14th July 2027.

 It costs £65 per property, every year - not a one-oft.

You'll need your gas safety record, electrical certificate and EPC to hand , worth checking those now before the rush.

 Do not miss your deadline as you risk a civil penalty of up to £7,000. 

Worse still - an unregistered landlord cannot get a possession order, so rent arrears could leave you stuck with no way to act.
